Rio 2016: Canada loses to Russia in men’s volleyball quarterfinal

Canada’s men’s volleyball team fell 3-0 to Russia in the quarterfinal tournament in Rio Wednesday.

The Russians dominated the match from the beginning, delivering precision strikes over and over through the Canadian squad. Canada also had some difficulty when it came to serving, which didn’t help when Russia kept the pressure on them.

Russia decisively won every set: 25-15, 25-20 and then 25-18 to finish off the game.

Canada is now out of the men’s volleyball tournament, finishing with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses, including preliminary rounds.

Russia will face either Brazil or Argentina in the semifinal on Friday.
